A day of firsts

The first task this morning was the daily checking of the garden moth trap. On the walk across the garden the first Swift of the year flew over. In the trap my first Rustic Shoulder-knot of the year.

2334 Rustic Shoulder-knot Apamea sordens

And at Cresswell, Northumberland's first nesting Avocets.

Avocet Recurvirostra avosetta

  2. Thanks Will. The Avocets are in front of the hide. I used a 500mm lens and an 1.4x convertor. A bit far away for a real keeper of a picture.

I'd get up there quick as I don't fancy their chances when the rain comes or the Otter fancies an omelette :(
